yeh, that would be really good I only know a FEW things my shitty old teacher (Twist`) was lazy lol, though I still have him on MSN. I can substract (Twist` teached me that) and also I can add (I learned it on my own ). Twist` also teached me how to make and connect together teleporters, but I don't really remember how to connect them together >_<. I know how to make water density or wut the hell XD. Once I experimented--> made a room and put a sentinel there and played on map and the sentinel wasn't there same thing with manta... don't know why lol. I want to learn how to make Jumppads, moving platforms and MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY mapping things.

About Spiffingrad: in 2-4 the Target Painter doesn't work =/
it worked in 2-3. I think it's because: there's collidable ceiling for 2-4 (I think only for 2-4) and you can't make an airstrike in a room lol. Spiffingrad with Collidable ceiling is a Room...

Please remove the quotations from you post, it rips the forum apart.

The ceiling is the skybox. It works by flagging surfaces as "Fake Backdrop", set a special ZoneInfo in the map and a SkyZoneInfo in the skybox to connect them.

The sunlight shines from the skybox through all surfaces with Fake Backdrop.


The problem with the painter is, that I started from an earlier version than 2-3 for 2-4, because 2-3 had a major bug while editing, but I noticed too late.
So that's why I forgot to make the box with the Fake Backdrop higher again.
The painter needs at least 5000 UU space over the point you aimed at.
Then it checks on an axis between the player and the point you aimed at, if there are any obstacles in 100 UU height and that on 200 UU in both directions.

When the bomber flies through the map then, it takes the way from which it needs longer to get to it's target and when it is horizontal in a radius of 5000 UU around it's target, then it throws all 0.3 seconds a bomb.

About spiffin. Well, 2.4 hasnt shock rifles. I saw it yesterday. Crusha, is this your or Foibos idea? I didnt like it first, later i realized we can play without shocks too But i still doubt are the shock rifles as bad for this map as Foibos says, i'm not sure. What do you think?

as u all know i really like the shock rifle...combo wh*re hehe
on spiff nevertheless it is indeed almost too powerful... three direct hits and the enemy is down (in case he doesnt have shield / big keg o'health)... i can understand foib with his wish to remove them and imo it's not that bad cuz everybody lives a bit longer and therefore has more fun playing...


THUS... it is very hard now to get down a tank, u have to close the distance and won't survive if the tank is well protected...
when it comes to "realism" as a reason to remove the shocks, then ion pointer, paladin, hellbender etc would have to go as well cuz they dont fit in the time of the 1940s... but w/o pala u cant build and hold nodes or take down a tank...



as i see I'm kinda torn between "keep them removed" and "bring them back"... actually neither would bother me so let's make a majority vote on this. just make a poll and link to it ^^

Changes:
-Moved a left-over collision-hull of a cart.
-Fixed a bug causing the airstrike-painter not to work anymore.
-Removed a forgotten shock rifle and sniper-rifle from a weaponlocker.
-Small adjustments to the czech hedgehogs.
-Removed a collision hull somewhere at the red base, as it was useless there.
-Replaced three anti-portals with one to make it more useful.

Changes:
-Lightmaps have a higher resolution; also adjusted the light-brightness on back of objects, where the sun isn't shining actually.
-Readded Shock Rifle on request of the users (Yeah baby, you've always been my old love ) Of course you can't win the WWII without the BAR.
-Removed some BlockingVolumes because they were more unrealistic than actually from use (made the players float on sloped walls)
-Readded one more sniping-point that was removed in the last versions.

Ehm, how many users wanted the shock rifles back? You can definitelly rename the map to ONS-Spiffingrad-T32-Crusha-ComboSPAMBOX-2-4-3. And don't forget to add the supershock to every locker, it could be even better then.

There is no reason to react like this. I didn't count the users, but they were not only a few and it's also my personal opinion as the editor of this map, that the Shocks need to get back, the users only support my thinking.

I gave it a try, but it didn't work, it gives mini-spammers a too big advantage and the Shock Rifle is one of the most basic gameplay-elements, that shouldn't lack in a map. The other weapons are not balanced without it. You need for each weapon another certain weapon to efficiently counter it.

And don't come me with "realism" as a reason. Gameplay weighs much more than all realism you could find in this game.

Handicapping good players by taking a weapon that requires their skill away in order to make the map more popular for the casual players is definitely not the right direction to go and has nothing to do with balancing anymore.

And also stay away with Spiffingrad-TSE. It is much less often played than this Spiff, and only because there are lacking Shock Rifles (I don't want to say "it works without Shock Rifles") I don't have to copy that concept into a similar map, but one that is still completely different.

Ok, sorry. But the vehicles including the tanks are almost useless there, they are being smashed in few seconds by blue lasers barrage. What about to put the shock rifle only somewhere, not to all lockers? And with limited ammo.
