I cannot play cs 1.6 steam everytime I try to connect to a server it reconnects me to another, tried through console
If I try to add a server on favorites it will show as if it has 0 players and when I tryto connect it redirects me

I tried deleting:

settings.scr
user.scr
config.cfg
autoexec.cfg
userconfig.cfg
resource/GameMenu.res

Nothing works, tried reinstalling doesnt work

Im using steam version can someone help me please?

Uninstall the whole game, delete the whole game folder including everything left in it if something is still there. Reinstall the game clean again using Steam.

If nothing works, your PC is probably infected with something from shitty a server. You would have to completely format your PC and install Windows clean again.

That would be the closest easy way out, and most importantly don't just join random servers you see without doing some research or a sense about what's to come.

It can't be from Steam since it's supposed to be a clean game installation if you have properly removed everything from the previous installation.

However if you are suspicious that Steam is doing this, make sure to report this in their Community and GitHub
