So I just bought COD 4 on steam, but everytime I try to choose a class during a match on any server, no matter what I pick it always selects the default assault class, I just started so I can only choose from the 4 default classes, but it doesn't seem to make any difference, always assault and I fucking hate assault. :p

I've just bought COD 4, have the same issue. I cannot get punkbuster to work and i also had to download someone's serverlist.dat to actually see the servers. I just want to play the game. Been trying for 4 hours already now.

Steps i've done:
Deleted the entire game and reinstalled (all problems still the same)
Deleted the profile data while not reinstalling (still the same)
Moved COD 4 to local HDD (Same problems)
Check if the files where read only maybe (didnt work)
Deleted anti virus and even disabled firewalls in the router and pc
Changed around 20-30 servers all the same

So now i've finally got the game to work i cannot change classes. This is bugging the hell out of me and i would really love to play again like in the old days.

First punkbuster isn't supported anymore by evenbalance, so there's no way to update it from their web site or using the software to update it.. you must find another way to get the newest version, for what about this problem I'd like to ask you if you patched it or not
