Hello !
Please help me out in few queries about DNS use 1. Let for instance , Old IP : 192.168.1.14:27015 New IP : 192.168.1.12:27016 The server IP is changed with DIFFERENT ports. Please guide me how to transfer the server rank from old ip to new ip. Old server is Claimed by me. Do I have to make a new GT page for the new server ? 2. Let for instance , Old IP : 192.168.1.14:27015 New IP : 192.168.1.12:27015 The server IP is changed with SAME ports. Please guide me how to transfer the server rank from old ip to new ip. Old server is Claimed by me. Do I have to make a new GT page for the new server ? 3. DNS is used to transfer the server rank. So how much time would it take to transfer the server rank ? And after the server rank is transferred can I remove the DNS ip from the page ? 4. Let for instance I have a server and I have claimed it over GT. I dont have any other server but still I have put up a DNS. What would happen then ? Help would really be appreciated. Thank You |

Hello Sir,
1. No. If you have servers having different ports then you can't transfer the rank. 2. Set up the DNS on the old server's page. Make sure you have claimed both the servers. DNS must resolve the new server IP. So, Set new IP on DNS. YourDnsName.com --> 192.168.1.12:27015 No. You don't need to make a new GT page for the new server. It's okay if it's already exists. 3. Your server's rank will be transferred on the next day rank update. If you want to remove DNS then just "Empty" out the DNS field and then "Update DNS". 4. If you use the other server's IP which has not been claimed by you then it will just redirect you to new server. Nothing will happen. That's why I said "You must claimed both the server". Thanks! |

Just to clarify a couple of points:
2. If the new server is on the website, it will need to be claimed by you in order for the transfer to go through. 3. If GT sees your server as down, it will resolve the DNS more frequently than daily. 4. Nothing, other than a cosmetic change for the page from having a DNS address. The main use of DNS is to update the IP of the page when the server changes an IP address. ![]() |

b0untyhunter wrote: 1. There has to be some way for different ports ! Orelse it is always not possible to have servers of same port. 2. New server IP DNS has to be made and has to be put in the old server GT page. Thats it Right ! 3. After the rank update, If I remove the DNS from my old GT page there is no problem right ? 4. Not other IP. My server IP is 192.168.1.12:27016 and I have also claimed this server on GT. Now I make a DNS of this IP ( 192.168.1.12) and put this DNS in my server of ip 192.168.1.12:27016 . Then what would happen ? |

Let for instance , Old IP : 192.168.1.14:27015 New IP : 192.168.1.12:27016 How to use the DNS feature then ? Because I am said that DNS cannt be used for servers with different ports. NOTE : BOTH SERVERS ARE CLAIMED BY ME ON GT. |

rexxysors wrote: You can't. They need to be on the same port. Please note: While some people want to use it to "migrate" their stats and rank, that is not the intention of the feature and we have no plans to adjust it for it anytime in the near future. The DNS is designed for people who run servers on dynamic IPs. So, you are running a server on 1.2.3.4:27015 The server is rebooted and gets a new IP: 1.2.3.5:27015 The DNS feature accommodates for dynamic IPs. ---- If your server gets a new join port, you can add the new combination to the website. ![]() |
