Explosiv Rounds

Well, a new thread again . I know this case is something that bother many of you. And it is true. many of our players use way too much frag rounds. and many of you admins have said what you guys want to do about it. But, when i was playing with Geek i finaly got an idea again. and then i told him about my idea. I want to remove frag rounds from tankbuster menu and put it in admin menue. in that way we admins are the only one that can spawn them. and yeah as Geek said. We can find them around the map. but i think and hope that we can change that somehow. So i want you guys to come here and tell about what you guys think of my idea?

how about perhaps lowering the force rate on the explosive rounds? that will lower the amount of infected killed with them in a given radius. i am sure we can look into doing it, as i know it can be done

i do agree though that we do need to do something. it does get annoying when you just trying to kill stuff and some person rolls up with an explosive shotty and kills everything saying "deal with it, i want to work on my score" or something stupid like that. granted as admins we CAN do something about that when we are there, but not much if we are not

The root of the problem is not explosive rounds and it is not the shotgun, it is the combination of explosive rounds with the shotguns, kinda like drinking and driving. Kinda like when people think that guns are the problem... Guns don't kill people, bullets kill people. But I digress. What we need is a mod that when someone has a shotty and they grab explosive ammo, they should spontaneously explode and not appear in a survivor closet, but have to wait until the saferoom has been reached by the remaining survivors and the door is shut.

Imagine the practical jokes that will follow:

"Hey Joey, come to the server I'm in... OK, now grab a shotgun... Here is some explosive ammo, go ahead, dig in... BAAMMM!!!!! LOL, what a noob!"

"That wasn't funny!"

Yes, we need that almighty plugin to be created!

chipmunkspider: Yeah we can do sothing when we are in th server.But how much can we do? we can ask them to stop or at least change wep. if they dont listen after some warnings, we can kick them. i dont know if we can ban them for that.

geekloco: that souds lik a geate idea. But we can look at cfg on one of the servers i was playing on last night. and i was thinking.that was a good idea. It was a sgc server and when i picd a shotgun i only had 30 shots instead of 225. Maybe we can do something like that?

limiting the ammo wouldnt be a bad idea. that only solves half the problem though. but i think it would help at least. and yeh, banning someone for that would be pretty crappy. its a sad excuse and i wouldnt do it, but it would fall under not listening to admins. however, the way i see it, if it doesnt endanger the server and we have it in game its legit, so i wouldnt ban them for using it myself.

i am going to look around though because there has got to be something we can do to limit the shotgun explosive ammo. it is definatly something worth looking into and testing out though.

where is the weapon damage and ammo setup and all that located? because there are a few things i would like to change. we upped the m16 ammo for example, but the mp5 ammo is low, and stuff like that. i would like to look into evening out a couple of them, while limiting the shotty ammo.

the only thing i worry about though is, limiting shotty ammo will also limit it with fire ammo. so on one of my servers i would like to find out where the weapon config is and just kind of mess around with it and see if i can find a happy medium

There are 44 weapon scripts listed. Find the names of the ones you want to look through.

I disabled fire ammo on the Survivor Upgrades plugins on my L4D1 servers because anytime I would have to shoot a zombie at close range the fire would visually block my line of sight with anything past it. If you wand to completely disable fire ammo on L4D2 it's got my vote.

i lowered the shotty rounds on the auto shotty in my survival server. lemme know if that makes it better. not the spas yet though.
