I don't really remember much work from him, but he seems to be a legendary map editor with a clear and thoughtful mind (and more reasonable than the Wolf ), so let's see if he will deliver some awesome edits in the future.

I thought I'd try my hand at using the editor, I'm a bit rusty but doing this wasn't so difficult.

The problem with dria is that it's fast and frantic, but tends to stalemate around node 1 and 2 (the riverbed nodes). Long haul games can be fun, not on fast paced maps, because peoples brains aren't as geared for strategy and can't really keep up with the constant flak shards. So I've addressed the issues.

The node paladins have been turned into Aegises to make those nodes far more defensible, giving people time to get down the nodes which attach it (the corner nodes) or to actually rush the opposing node.

The corner nodes have had their vehicle load outs altered subtly, the tanks there replaced with a fire bender (the ones from scorched), the tanks were being used to hit the back of river nodes with devastating force. Another bender with twinbeams there would result in another round of hill camping. Another thing is that this bender is quite good at dealing with hill camping itself with the fire thrower on the back.

In leu of the fact that there are two less tanks, and remembering that the mantas and scorps can get over this map very fast, the minos respawn time is now 90 seconds as opposed to 120 seconds, meaning a team who are utilizing the aegis protecting the vital 1&2 nodes and using the mino properly can apply the pressure more frequently.

It should still give the fast paced matches without losing the feel of the map and without leading to the endless stalemates. Hill campers might be a little miffed, but there are still 4 twinbeam hounds in the map, two tanks, and two SPMAs, and two king hounds if they really want to hang around shooting at stuff from hilltops.

If you think it's a good idea here ya go...

Couldn't you put that into a rhetoric masterpiece that even would have made Cicero jealous?

Ok, but you also need to consider other factors that contribute to the number of players playing, for instance the end of winter (nerds leave their cellars), upcoming exams for students (like me) and similar stuff. Doesn't have to be related to the maps (though I don't want to deny that I never really enjoyed the omnified maps as much as the classic ones).

The main reason is a new server running TMU and MasterBath for 24/7, the îTS .NL ««« ONS »»». More info here or here. This should be in the Future thread.

Oh, alright then, you got it all figured out it seems. For a minute there I was beginning to wonder whether your server dropping 6 places in the past 4 weeks had anything to do with your own decisions and actions, but, yeah, I guess not now; it's all those damn dutchy copycats' fault. Thanks for clarifying.

Just for the record though, their server's running far more than just 2 popular maps (their roster has at least 50-60 maps) and although in terms of specific mutators, extras, characteristics and other administrative approaches, their choices have practically been much worse than TechCom's (game stopping mid-game AntiTCC checks, obnoxious server splash intro with an extended audio sample, UTcomp remnants that will stay in your inis' settings long after you've logged off and be carried over to other servers later and so on and so on...), somehow they've grabbed the attention of many of your regulars and within 2 measly weeks, they've managed to reach the 13th spot, which is - lemme check again how far we've dropped now... oh, yes - just right behind TechCom. But yeah, definitely nobody's fault here.

Actually, just rename this thread to "OMG, Yet Another New, Must-Have Thing the Omnis Just Made!!!" and this discussion will be spot on about the issue that's been killing us lately.

Just because you're able to avoid the direct consequences of your actions doesn't mean it's alright (let alone help anyone) being the Omnis' shill around here, peddling every last bit they happened to edit for their own clientele's needs to us. You'd do well to consider for a moment how you've been "contributing" to things around here lately in terms of content quality.

Mr. Smart, let me know how can you keep all your former players just for you when there are another 2 similar servers around. No, no, wait, I know, Pandemonium and MassDestruction and such crap can keep us on the top. I've lowered the repeat limit to 20 and cleared the maplist slightly. We run the best maps and offering the players the best ONS experience.

So let me get this right:
Just because I don't have the time to play or contribute something at the moment due to the fact that (oh, surprise!) I have more important stuff to do, you blame me for suggesting a potentially better version of a map that we currently run (wow, I still care about the server although I am not playing there currently - must be a conspiracy of Omni to sabotage us and to lose rank!) and for giving the mapper a chance who hasn't done any editing for Omni for years and yet is pegged by you (how fitting) as the same character as D-jAy & Co., simply for the reason that he hangs out there and probably without having the map played before harassing it here? Ok.
