I’m renovating my house and trying to decide between single-hung and double-hung windows. I know both are common choices, but what are the key differences? Which type is better for functionality and maintenance in the long run?

The main difference is that double-hung windows have two movable sashes, while single-hung windows have one fixed sash. Double-hung are more versatile for ventilation and easier to clean since both sashes tilt inward. However, single-hung are often more affordable and energy-efficient.

When deciding between single-hung and double-hung windows and doors https://windowtechcanada.ca/ , consider your priorities. Double-hung windows offer enhanced ventilation because both sashes can move. They’re also easier to clean from the inside, which is great for multi-story homes. On the other hand, single-hung windows are typically more energy-efficient because they have fewer moving parts and a tighter seal. For many homeowners, the choice comes down to balancing cost, ease of use, and maintenance. Both styles can be tailored with materials and finishes to complement your existing windows and doors, ensuring they blend seamlessly with your home’s design.
